The circumstances surrounding the death of Basil Kalogerou have raised numerous unanswered questions. Just hours after it was revealed that Basil Lampropoulos made a new disclosure on Sunday (February 23, 2025) during MEGA TV’s main news bulletin, more details emerged. According to Lampropoulos, the toxicology lab sent a request to the judicial authorities in Larissa to open Kalogerou’s medical file. However, responsible judicial officials did not immediately grant approval. Two other mysterious factors also remain unclear: why Kalogerou’s family didn’t inform authorities about the pharmaceutical substance he was taking regularly and why his medical file wasn’t requested earlier by those investigating his disappearance. Police officials emphasize that searching for a healthy missing person is very different from searching for someone with a serious medical condition that could affect their decisions and movements. Authorities are also investigating whether the fact that Kalogerou was on this medication was intentionally kept hidden due to the prominence of individuals involved in the case. The substance was reportedly detected during the first phase of the toxicological examination of bile and other organs. It is being examined whether it is linked to Kalogerou’s mental health condition. On Friday, the Toxicology Lab of the Forensic Medicine Service in Thessaloniki sent a document to EL.AS requesting expedited toxicological tests on biological materials from Kalogerou and any possible drug regimen he followed. Additionally, pharmacists who allegedly supplied the drugs to Kalogerou’s family are expected to testify. On Monday, Kalogerou’s mother, father, and uncle are set to appear at the Larissa prosecutor’s office to address suspicions that the 39-year-old’s death may be the result of criminal activity.
