DEI Issues New Call for Generators and Transformers for Kozani Data Center

The Public Power Corporation (DEI) has issued its third market invitation to identify technology providers for critical electrical systems destined for its upcoming data center in Kozani. This initial step is non-binding and does not constitute a formal award or tender — those will follow later, pending DEI’s final investment decision.

Hyperscaler Talks Underway

DEI is currently in discussions with several hyperscale cloud providers and aims to conclude a framework agreement before the end of this year. Once that agreement is in place, formal tenders for the construction and equipment procurement of the data center will proceed.

Call Targets Key Electrical Equipment

Alongside these negotiations, DEI is now inviting qualified companies with proven technical expertise and experience to submit proposals for key infrastructure components. Specifically sought are prefabricated generators capable of meeting the facility’s backup power needs in case of grid supply disruption. Also required are medium-to-low voltage transformers, ring main units (RMUs), and other related electrical equipment.

According to the invitation, integration of these systems may occur either through a dedicated supply contract with a technology provider or via an independent contractor. Beyond technical specifications, DEI places strong emphasis on competitive pricing and delivery timelines — both critical factors in preparing for the project’s next phase once the final go-ahead is given.
