The U.S.-based investment management firm Capital Group has become a major shareholder of Greece’s Public Power Corporation (DEI), holding 5.05% of its shares — equivalent to 30,188,244 voting shares — as of July 9, 2026. DEI announced the development on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, following formal notification received from Capital Group Companies, Inc. (CGC) on July 10.
Ownership Structure and Regulatory Disclosure
According to Greek law 3556/2007, CGC and its subsidiary Capital Research and Management Company (CRMC) jointly hold the stake indirectly. CGC is the parent company of CRMC and Capital Bank & Trust Company (CB&T). CRMC, headquartered in the United States, serves as investment manager for the American Funds mutual fund family, other collective investment vehicles, and institutional and individual clients.
CRMC oversees equity assets through three investment units: Capital Research Global Investors, Capital International Investors, and Capital World Investors. It also controls Capital Group International, Inc. (CGII), which in turn owns six investment management firms operating globally — including entities registered in the U.S., the UK, Switzerland, Japan, and India — primarily serving institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals.
CB&T is a U.S.-licensed investment adviser and federally chartered bank. Importantly, neither CGC nor any of its affiliated companies holds DEI shares for their own account. The reported stake is held in client accounts managed at the discretion of one or more of the aforementioned investment management firms.
