Public Power Corporation (DEI) is on track to meet its renewable energy goals, having already achieved approximately 85% of its targets according to its first-half report. The company currently operates 6.3 GW of renewable energy projects with an additional 3.7 GW under construction, nearing the 11.8 GW target set for 2027. DEI’s H1 report highlights a series of ongoing solar and wind power projects across Greece.
In wind energy developments, the 26 MW Doulkas wind park in Kastoria, with a total budget of €31.6 million, is expected to be completed by 2026. The 6.4 MW Karkaros wind park, with a total budget of €45.5 million, is also slated for commissioning within the same timeframe. Construction has already begun on several other projects including the 32 MW Timenio Oros wind farm in Arcadia and Argolis, following an EPC contract signed in October 2024. In addition, work began in Q1 2025 on a 60 MW wind park in Rodopi and a 11 MW project in Livadaki, Phocis, with contracts signed late last year.
On the solar front, the massive 550 MW Ptolemaida photovoltaic plant is scheduled for completion this year at a cost of €300 million. DEI is also developing energy storage solutions at the Kardia mine site and thermal generation units to support district heating systems. Meanwhile, its subsidiary DEI Renewables is advancing combined PV and battery storage stations at the former Kardia power plants.
Other key solar projects include the 80 MW Akrini PV plant in Western Macedonia, expected to be energized in Q3 2025. The Exochi 7, Exochi 8, and Kardia 1 solar farms totaling 170.95 MW were completed in Q1 2025 and are expected to be connected by Q4 2025. Additionally, the first phase of the 125 MW Megalopoli Mine solar plant commenced in 2025 with completion expected by Q3, while the second phase is already under construction.
Hybrid projects are also progressing, including a 3 MW guaranteed power hybrid station combining a 3.531 MW solar plant and a 10.16 MWh battery system in Astypalaia. Contracts for infrastructure and BESS equipment were signed in late 2024 and early 2025, with construction underway.
