DEH Adds 88 MW Photovoltaic Park to Portfolio in Bulgaria

in

Committed to enhancing its leading role in the energy transition across Southeast Europe, DEH Group strengthens its green portfolio with the acquisition agreement for the completion and commissioning of an 88 MW photovoltaic park under construction in Ventraре village, Karlovo region, central Bulgaria. The project is currently being built by Chint Green Energy, a subsidiary of Chint Group, which owns Astronergy—one of the world’s largest photovoltaic panel manufacturers. The park will be handed over to DEH Group upon completion and commissioning in the first quarter of 2026. Strategically located in an area with high solar irradiation levels near one of Bulgaria’s main load centers (Plovdiv), the site benefits from easy access and excellent existing infrastructure, just 150 km from Sofia. For the construction of the photovoltaic park, 18,500 double-sided panels from Astronergy, 264 string inverters, and 12 MV/LV substations will be utilized. The system features single-axis trackers equipped with active panel orientation and embedded back-tracking algorithms to boost station productivity. The estimated annual energy production is expected to reach approximately 140 GWh, sufficient to cover the energy needs of over 23,500 households while preventing about 70,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. DEH Group Deputy CEO Konstantinos Mauros emphasized that ‘DEH Group is steadily expanding its portfolio in Southeast Europe as outlined in our 2025–2027 strategic plan. Following the 165 MW photovoltaic station we began constructing in Stara Zagora, we are reinforcing our presence in Bulgaria with another significant project contributing to our vision of sustainable transition towards green energy not only in Greece but throughout Southeast Europe.’ Two months ago, DEH Group started building a 165 MWp photovoltaic station in Stara Zagora, along with a 25 MW energy storage station with 55 MWh capacity nearby. Simultaneously, DEH operates an 18 MW wind park in Northern Bulgaria. Today, DEH Group has a total renewable energy portfolio of 6.2 GW installed capacity across Greece, Romania, Italy, and Bulgaria, aiming to increase it to 11.8 GW by 2027.
