DEDYEE Proposes Increase in Connection Fees Due to Rising Costs

A significant discrepancy has emerged between the actual cost of network connections and the contributions paid by consumers, prompting DEDYEE (Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator) to propose a revision. Specifically, DEDYEE has recommended to the Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAAEY) that connection fees for Low and Medium Voltage be updated to reflect current realities.

In recent years, there has been a decline in cost recovery levels, with rates standing at 84%, 78%, and 67% for 2022, 2023, and 2024 respectively. Overall, consumer contributions have dropped by 6% from 2022 to 2023 and by 11% from 2023 to 2024, with the largest reductions affecting Districts B and C. This drop is attributed to rising labor costs and material expenses, which burden DEDYEE.

As a result, there is now a notable gap between connection costs and what consumers pay, ultimately increasing the financial load on all network users through usage charges. To address this, DEDYEE proposes raising consumer participation to cover 90% of connection expenses.

Among other changes, for consumers with three-phase supply (excluding households), prices will remain at €50.60 for District A, increase from €50.60 to €84.50 for District B, and rise from €37.10 to €66.04 for District C. For residential consumers, regardless of district, there will be a €20 increase for the first 10kVA, with further tiered increases beyond that. Additionally, a temporary 50-50 cost-sharing arrangement for Medium Voltage consumers over nine months was also proposed.
