Daylight Saving Time 2025: When to Turn Clocks Forward One Hour

in

Spring marks the beginning of daylight saving time as the days grow longer and we enjoy more sunlight in the evenings. The clock change is set to occur on the last Sunday in March (March 30, 2025). Therefore, we will need to move our clocks forward by one hour, from 03:00 to 04:00, losing an hour of sleep or leisure. This practice has been applied for decades with the aim of conserving energy and making better use of natural light. However, there are debates about whether this measure should continue, as some scientists highlight its impact on citizens’ biological rhythms, causing several sleep disturbances. Although the European Union has discussed potentially ending the clock change, the measure remains in effect for now. It’s worth noting that daylight saving time will last until the last Sunday in October (October 26, 2025), when we will return to standard time. Remember, not all electronic devices adjust automatically unless connected to the internet. While computers, tablets, smartwatches, and smartphones may update automatically, analog clocks will require manual adjustment. Greece first experimented with daylight saving time in 1932 but later abandoned it due to complications with global time zones. It was reintroduced in the 1970s following Europe’s energy crisis.
