Dawn Robinson: Former En Vogue Member Has Lived in Her Car for Three Years

Dawn Robinson, the former member of the successful R&B group ‘En Vogue,’ revealed that she has been living in her car for the past three years. She described this unconventional choice as a personal challenge and a process of awakening. The singer made the revelation to her fans through a YouTube video. “Guys, I’ve been living in my car for the last three years. I said it, oh my God, it’s out,” she said with relief. After living with her parents in Las Vegas, Robinson moved to Los Angeles in 2020 following a suggestion from her former manager, who initially offered her a place to stay. When the arrangement fell through, the singer explained that she found herself in a hotel for eight months while trying to find an apartment. She accused her manager of interfering multiple times in her efforts to find housing, saying, “Sometimes people want to trap you and keep you in a vulnerable and dependent situation.” Disappointed by the obstacles she faced, she began considering alternative options and was drawn to ‘living in her car.’ Thus, she decided to live in her vehicle, heading towards Malibu, California. “I felt free. It was like being on an endless camping trip,” she said about her decision and continued, “This isn’t a sad story. It’s an experience through which I learned who I am, as a person and as a woman.” She admitted there were tough moments, especially after losing her dog Max, who died in the car, according to Billboard. “I’m really alone,” she emphasized, adding that despite missing her family, this period of isolation was something she needed to go through. “If I could have an apartment, I would want one. But I wouldn’t trade what I’ve learned through this experience. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished,” she mentioned. She concluded the video by sending an encouraging message to her fans, urging them to be spontaneous and fearless.
