Copenhagen suspends deportations of refugees to Afghanistan

The Danish government said it had received a warning from the Afghan government last month that Kabul would suspend for three months its intention to take back its deportees.

“The decision of the Afghan government means that in practice we can not forcibly deport to Afghanistan until October 8 as forced repatriations presuppose that the Afghan authorities are ready to accept the deportee at the border,” said the immigration minister, Matias Tesfage, in an announcement.
