From the sacred grounds of the Scopetirio in Kaisariani, the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE inaugurated the celebration marking 80 years since the Anti-Fascist Victory of the Peoples. Speaking at a major political gathering in Kaisariani, D. Koutsoumpas emphasized the heroism of 200 communist fighters executed in 1944 and the historic triumph of the Red Army in Berlin in 1945. He highlighted that these victories underscore the power of people when they take their destiny into their own hands. Criticizing capitalist forces attempting to erase this historical memory, Koutsoumbas reiterated the KKE’s role as the driving force behind the great EAM resistance movement. Addressing claims about peaceful parliamentary paths to socialism, he argued that true change requires unwavering commitment to workers’ power and anti-capitalist struggle. Looking ahead, he stressed that only socialism-communism offers an alternative to capitalist barbarity, calling for the establishment of new social relations based on collective ownership and workers’ participation. The event concluded with a musical tribute featuring renowned artists and wreath-laying ceremonies honoring those martyred in Kaisariani.
