The Government Council for National Security (KYSEA) concluded its meeting today (02.07.2025) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. During the session, updates and evaluations were provided regarding recent regional developments, as highlighted by Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesman, Pavlos Marinakis. Regarding migration, emphasis was placed on the need for cooperation with Libyan authorities to prevent the establishment of a new migratory route from eastern Libya towards Crete. The European dimension of the issue was also underscored ahead of upcoming visits to Libya by both Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis and European Commissioner Magnus Brunner. Additionally, discussions covered military procurement matters, including the modernization of the Hellenic Navy’s MEKO frigates, technical support for Army Aviation Apache and NH90 helicopters, and C-130 transport aircraft maintenance.
