Cyprus: Low vaccination coverage for 18-29 year olds

Only 58.8% have been vaccinated with the 1st dose of the corovirus vaccine by June 11, while 39% have completed their vaccination regimen, taking either both doses of AstraZeneca, Moderna and Pfizer vaccines or the Johnson&Johnson monodosive vaccine.
From the data of the Ministry of Health, the percentage vaccinated at least with the 1st dose is at a very high rate in people 70 years of age and older, while vaccination of the age groups 40-49, 50-59 and 60-69 is progressing at a fairly satisfactory rate. In addition, a significant increase has been seen in the last week in the 30-39 age group. Low and steady remains, however, the percentage of people who received at least the 1st dose at ages 18-29 years.

Low vaccination coverage in the population aged 18-29 is also reflected in the percentage of cases detected daily, with most new CASES OF COVID mainly found in people in the under-30 age group. The case tracking shows that a very high proportion close to 95% have not been vaccinated, which makes these individuals more prone to the virus and mutations, increasing the risk of severe disease.
