The President of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis, stated that the demands made by Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, as stated in the document submitted in Geneva, for recognition of the sovereign equality and equal international status of the pseudo-state, prevent the desired result.
However, he noted that despite the setbacks, “we maintain our commitment and determination to continue and strengthen our efforts until Turkey is convinced to change course and align with the agreed UN framework and European Union decisions.”
Accepting the credentials of the new Israeli Ambassador to Nicosia, Oren Anolik, President Anastasiadis also referred to Varosi, saying that Turkey’s actions and challenges are contrary to the relevant UN resolutions and the presidential statements of July 23 2021, and October 9, 2020.
