A 23-year-old Albanian national—born and raised in Chania, Crete—is allegedly the mastermind behind a plot to carry out attacks against police officers in Chania. Currently detained at Korydallos Prison near Athens, he reportedly coordinated the plan remotely with two other men, both aged 24, who were arrested on drug-related charges.

Targeted Officers and Evidence Found

Authorities discovered photographs and personal details of three police officers stored on the suspects’ mobile phones—including names, addresses, and contact information. Two of the officers are senior commanders; the third is the officer who arrested the 23-year-old in Chania last December during a raid on a warehouse in Nerokouros, where a large quantity of cannabis was seized. During that operation, the suspect reportedly resisted arrest. Following his interrogation, he was ordered detained and transferred to Korydallos.

A subsequent search of his prison cell uncovered three notebooks containing addresses, email accounts, and phone numbers. One notebook bore the title ‘A Journey into the World of Money.’ A separate investigation also led to the filing of charges against his 53-year-old mother and 29-year-old sister, who allegedly served as couriers—referred to locally as ‘vaporakia’—in the drug trafficking network.

Disturbing Communications

Recorded conversations reveal chilling coordination. In one exchange, the detainee—identified as B.T.—directs the transfer of money believed to originate from criminal activity:

B.T.: ‘From Inti?’

N.P.: ‘Yeah, man.’
B.T.: ‘Did you get 500?’
N.P.: ‘300.’
B.T.: ‘Talk to Shaban and hand it over to him first.’

In another message, B.T. sends a photo of the arresting officer with the caption: ‘Here’s the monkey.’ His associate replies: ‘Got it—check out these tough guys.’ Prosecutors consider such exchanges part of the preparatory phase for potential targeted violence.

An audio message included in the case file features one of the suspects saying: ‘I was saying yesterday, let’s beat up some cops, man—just one or two—to see if we know any of their home addresses…’

In yet another conversation, B.T. gives an even more extreme instruction: ‘Hey, grab some dynamite and blow it up… Better to hit the name than the face.’
