Crete: “Maimus” orthopedic convinced 74 year old that her daughter had an accident

A new case of fraud involving a victim is managed in the last 24 hours by the police authorities, reportedly, all happened last Friday morning (22.11.2024) in Chania, Crete, when an elderly woman received a call from a man who was presented to her as an orthopedic. Her “monkey” orthopedic reported that her daughter had been seriously injured in a car accident and needs a large amount of money in order to proceed to surgery, writes cretapost.gr. The 74-year-old in a panic situation collected all the money she had at home, 1,500 euros and all her jewels worth 10,000 euros, put them in a bag and threw them off the balcony to a stranger sent to her by the “orthopedic”. As soon as the 74 – year – old returned home and calmed down she found that she had eventually been the victim of fraud resulting in herself reporting the incident to the police.
