Couple Marries with ‘Fake’ Priests and Never Realized – What Happened at the Venue in Lagonisi

A shocking complaint by a woman has emerged regarding the marriage and baptism of her friend’s couple, which turned out to be… invalid. As reported, the two ‘priests’ who performed the ceremony were not officially recognized by the Orthodox Church, rendering the documents signed by the couple void. Consequently, as the woman told newsit.gr, the couple was forced to remarry and rebaptize their child legally this time, in a private family setting. This unbelievable incident came to light through a TikTok video posted by a wedding guest with the caption: ‘Have you ever been to a ‘fake’ wedding?’ According to the friend and guest at the deceived couple’s marriage and baptism, held two years ago at a seaside venue near Lagonisi, after the couple initially met the priests of the local parish for a first meeting, they left the arrangements to the estate and event organizers. Ultimately, two young bearded men appeared, raising immediate suspicions. Initially, the two young ‘priests’ seemed very casual, even joking around with the guests, but during the ceremony, the bearded men began confusing the reading of the Gospel, omitting key parts and altering the liturgical process. Despite these signs, attendees didn’t suspect foul play until later when the couple visited the registry office to register the marriage and discovered that the bearded men were defrocked priests not officially affiliated with the Metropolis, making the marriage documents invalid. The couple eventually remarried at Meteora with their godparents, choosing not to file a complaint due to receiving financial compensation from the venue where the ceremonies took place.
