Costas Genidounias: President of Train Drivers Dismissed by Hellenic Train

in

In a sudden move, Costas Genidounias, the president of the train drivers’ union, was dismissed by Hellenic Train, sparking strong reactions in the labor and union sectors. Speaking exclusively to newsit.gr about the decision by Hellenic Train, Genidounias clarified that this was not a voluntary resignation but rather a clear dismissal. “Did I resign? Did I send them flowers? I didn’t resign; they fired me. They’ve put something on my door, now I’m talking with my lawyers. Anyway, I did not resign, be sure of that,” he stated emphatically. He directly linked his dismissal to the upcoming election process within the drivers’ union: “The reason is that I was returning to the unions. I would have been a candidate in the elections that are in 10 days for the drivers’ union. Perhaps it bothered them, I don’t know, we’ll see.” The case is already in the hands of his legal advisors, while official responses are expected from both the employees and Hellenic Train, which has not yet issued a statement.
