The vaccination of adolescents aged 15-17 against coronavirus is recommended by the National Vaccination Committee, after the meeting that took place today (29.06.2021) in the morning.
However, the decision is not final and -according to information- it will meet again next Thursday (01.07.2021).
The new fortified Delta virus has worried the global scientific community, as it not only transmits at a rate faster than any previous virus, but also shows partial resistance to vaccine immunity.
According to forecasts from the European Center for Infection (ECDC), but also the World Health Organization (WHO), the next wave of coronavirus will affect the unvaccinated, people with vulnerable immune systems who have not been adequately shielded by vaccination, but also unvaccinated children.
We remind you that the government, through the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis himself, announced as a motive for the vaccination of young people between 18 and 25 years old, the provision of a voucher amounting to 150 euros.
The goal is for 11% of the percentage of fully vaccinated young people of this age today – which amounts to 20% with appointments – to reach and exceed 70% by the end of the summer.
Everyone is worried that young people may not be seriously ill, but they are very mobile – especially in the summer – and thus contribute significantly to the spread of the virus.
