Coronavirus – CDC: Pfizer and Moderna vaccines safe for pregnant women

Approved coronavirus mRNA vaccines (Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna) are “safe and effective” for pregnant women, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“The CDC encourages all pregnant women who are considering becoming pregnant, as well as those who are breastfeeding, to be vaccinated to protect themselves from Covid-19,” said CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Wallenski.

She added: “It has never been more urgent to increase vaccinations, as we are facing the highly contagious Delta variant and we are seeing serious illnesses among unvaccinated pregnant women.”

The CDC urges pregnant women to get vaccinated in both doses. After all, according to the Center, pregnant women do not report more or different – generally mild and short – side effects than the general population.
