Coronavirus – Belgium: Delta mutation predominates

The “Delta” variant seems to dominate in Belgium now, according to the latest data.

According to the federal spokesman for the fight against coronavirus Yves van Ladem, this variant represents 50.2% of cases, while the “Alpha” variant (formerly called British) represents 43% of positive cases.

It should be noted that between June 27 and July 3, 2021, the daily average of cases in Belgium rose to 545, an increase of 66% over the previous week, according to a statement from the Scientific Institute of Public Health Sciensano.
