The relatives and friends of the 19-year-old who tragically lost her life suddenly in Sofiko, Corinth, are left in shock. ‘I found her lifeless,’ said the dance teacher who accompanied her to a planned event, speaking to newsit.gr. The unfortunate young woman, who was studying in Ioannina and deeply passionate about dancing, had her life cut short unexpectedly. ‘We went to a party on Friday night, danced, and relaxed. Breakfast was until 10 a.m., then she closed her eyes before sleeping and told us not to wake her up for breakfast because she preferred to rest. We all stayed together in a six-bed room with bunk beds. So, the five of us went for breakfast, but Marilena didn’t join us,’ recounted the teacher of the 19-year-old. He added that the moments following breakfast were dramatic as everyone froze when they realized Marilena did not respond when they tried to wake her. ‘We went for breakfast, and as we returned, I went to wake her up, but she didn’t respond, even when I shook her. I tried counting loudly over her, one, two, three, as we do during lessons to wake her up, but again there was no response. At some point, I tried to find her pulse but couldn’t, and when I tried to lift her, the girl was already in rigor mortis. The other girls nearby were shocked. I immediately ran to call for help from where we were staying and called the EKAB (Emergency Medical Services) and the police.’ An ambulance arrived promptly and transferred the 19-year-old to the hospital in Corinth, where her death was confirmed. According to the teacher, Marilena was very excited about the dance festival. ‘A salsa festival was what we attended, starting on Friday and leaving Sunday afternoon. Marilena started dancing this October and really wanted to attend the festival. She was thrilled to be there, eagerly awaiting it.’ The family awaits answers regarding the sudden death of the 19-year-old. Marilena was the only child in her family, a girl full of dreams for life. ‘She didn’t have any siblings; she was an only child. She was studying, which she greatly desired. All of us are utterly devastated and still in shock at what happened; no one can believe it,’ he stated.
