in

An employee of the Ionian Islands Region is accused of embezzling approximately €400,000. According to reports, the individual allegedly used the regional fund to transfer substantial amounts of money into personal accounts. As per corfutvnews.gr, this issue was discussed during a council meeting of the Ionian Islands Region. Deputy Regional Financial Officer Savvas Koulouris presented evidence indicating that these transfers were systematic and aimed at concealing the ultimate destination of the funds. Although the accounts appear to belong to other regional employees, it seems they had no involvement or knowledge of the scheme. The headquarters of the region is located in Corfu. Ongoing investigations, supported by prosecutorial orders, will determine if others were involved or if the mechanism operated solely by the treasury employee. On Monday afternoon, Savvas Koulouris will hold a press conference regarding the case.
