Compensation for Children’s Ventilators Increases from €170 to €300

According to a decision by the Health Minister, Adonis Georgiadis, the compensation for ventilators for children will increase from €170 to €300. Prior to this intervention, parents of ill children had complained about the unbearable financial burden they faced to ensure their children could breathe, as without mechanical support from ventilators, their children couldn’t function independently. This issue was highlighted in an emotional report on Alpha News’ evening bulletin on Thursday, June 19th. Parents appealed for state intervention, as they were renting ventilators from companies through EOPYY for €175 per month. ‘The protesting parents are right to protest. I immediately gave instructions to the EOPYY administration, and at the next Board meeting of the Organization, the compensation price for these special devices for children will change from €170 to €300 so that families aren’t overburdened,’ stated Adonis Georgiadis on X (formerly Twitter). He communicated directly with EOPYY director Theano Karpodini last night and agreed on increasing the compensation. Many parents across the country with children suffering from respiratory problems are forced to rent ventilators, paying more than €170 per month. If cooperation with EOPYY ceases, costs for parents could reach €300. ‘Constructive and serious criticism makes us better,’ concluded Health Minister Georgiadis.
