In the formation of a committee for the monitoring of the program management of stray companion animals proceeded to the municipal authority of Salt.
By a decision of the mayor of Almyros, Dimitris ΕσεÏίδη, it was announced that the committee will be five. Specifically it consists of the vet, Michael Τακόπουλο, in charge of the programme concerned, city councilman Elias Addition, as a representative of the municipality, the deputy mayor Michalis Makris, a member of the animal lovers association Athena Weaver and a member of animal lovers association, Angel Bravo.
The tasks of the committee will be to decide on the risk of a pet animal and in the case that there is a dispute the final decision will be taken by a scientific committee that will be set by the municipality.
The deputy mayor Michalis Makris stated that it will be kept strictly what is stipulated in the applicable legislation, in parallel with the program that is being implemented for the collection of stray animals and sterilization.
In the meantime, the municipality continues to seek a financial tool in order to program the creation of a municipal κυνοκομείου.
Moreover, the abandonment of animals is no longer a daily occurrence with the municipal authority has a reasonable suspicion that in several cases the animals are transported to the Salt from other regions.

The phenomenon of stray animals has received large dimensions as in most of the municipalities not only of Magnesia, but also nationwide.
In the last four months has happened at least eleven attacks animals with an equal number of wounded received first aid from the Health Center of Almyros.
At the same time, the slaughter of animals employ more and more often, causing protests from animal lovers and from the municipal authority.
