Colored Tariffs Coming to Natural Gas with Initiative by RAEE

in

Following the implementation of colored (green, blue, yellow) tariffs for retail electricity, the regulatory authority RAEE proposes applying them to natural gas as well. Yesterday (May 12, 2025), a consultation proposal for colored tariffs in natural gas was launched, aiming to create better conditions for consumers by enhancing transparency and competition among suppliers. Specifically, after analyzing the market, RAEE determined that there has been little customer mobility in the networks of Attica and Thessaloniki-Thessaly compared to new networks across Greece. A significant factor in this phenomenon is the inability of most consumers to compare supply products and verify prices over time. Thus, the Authority deems it necessary to impose regulatory measures regarding supply terms, tariff representation, and proper consumer information. The goal of these measures is to ensure full, clear, and transparent consumer information, as well as fair and healthy competition among suppliers. It is emphasized that the application of multicolored tariffs in electricity significantly increased market transparency and consumer confidence. RAEE aims to replicate this success with natural gas.
