A memorandum of collaboration aimed at enhancing vocational education and employment was signed today (June 4, 2025) at the Employment Public Service offices in Alimos by DYPA Director Spyros Protopsaltis and Elval Human Resources Director Giorgos Papandreou. The initiative aims to closely align technical education with the real needs of modern industry. Starting from the new academic year, the Vocational School (EPAS) Apprenticeship of DYPA in Chalkida will introduce a new specialization: ‘CNC Machine Technician,’ offering theoretical education alongside paid and insured practical training within Elval’s ultra-modern industrial unit in Oinofyta, Boeotia—the second largest aluminum hot rolling facility in Europe. This new specialization is open to young people aged up to 29 who have completed at least Gymnasium-level education. DYPA offers free tuition for two years (four semesters), paid apprenticeships ranging from €125-156 weekly for 4-5 days of work, housing allowances up to €240 monthly, and meal allowances of €9 daily. Additional benefits include study leave and deferred military service. Elval provides private insurance, meal cards, daily meals, and free transportation to and from the plant using company vehicles. Recognizing the need for quality career paths combining education, innovation, and growth opportunities for youth in Evia and Boeotia, this partnership seeks to boost local employment through targeted technical education and hands-on experience in a safe and modern working environment. Both parties emphasized the importance of bridging education and employment while fostering regional development.
