Incidents were reported in the center of Thessaloniki following the commemorative rally on Wednesday (05.03.2025) for the Tempi tragedy. Molotov cocktails, fires in bins, and tear gas transformed key streets of the city into a battlefield. Specifically, after the rally marking two years since the Tempi tragedy, some participants moved towards the Arch of Galerius where clashes broke out. A group of hooded individuals armed with flares targeted the police, who responded with chemical agents. The battleground was located on Egnatia Street, in front of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where stones and flashbangs were fired. Following the incidents, law enforcement conducted over 50 arrests. By 11 PM, the central streets of Thessaloniki had reopened.
