The american spy agency CIA has concluded that Russia has intervened in this year’s presidential elections in the USA to help Donald Trump to be elected to the White House and not just υπομονεύσει confidence in the american electoral system, said yesterday the newspaper the Washington Post.
Citing american officials who received a briefing on the issue, the Post stresses that the intelligence agencies have identified people who have links with the Russian government and which had granted the WikiLeaks thousands of e-mail messages illegally obtained from the national committee of the Democratic party and from other accounts, such as the head of the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton.
The officials described the individuals as people known to the members of the intelligence services, noting that that they were part of a wider enterprise of Moscow to give a boost to the candidacy Trump and to reduce the chances of the election of Clinton.
“An assessment of the information services that the aim of Russia in the country were to favour one candidate over the other, and to help Trump to be elected to the presidency,” said according to the publication by a senior american official said. “This is the view of common acceptance,” he said.
According to the Post, the officer had not been informed of a presentation of the intelligence services by the CIA to senators behind closed doors last week.
The CIA, in a classified assessment, as stated in the publication, cited a growing body of evidence from multiple sources. The responsible of the presentation stressed to the senators that it is “absolutely clear” that the election Trump was the target of Russia, said the officials who spoke to the newspaper on condition not to be named.
In October, the u.s. government accused the official of the Russian federation that conducts a business of cyber-attacks against organizations and bodies of the Democratic Party, ahead of the presidential election of 8 November.
President Barack Obama said he warned his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that these attacks will have consequences. Russian officials, however, have denied each category of intervention in the american elections.
The Trump has stated he is not convinced that Russia was behind cyber-attacks. The team of Trump, responsible for the transition of power, issued a statement yesterday, citing “allegations of involvement of foreign intelligence services spying on the american elections”, but without making direct reference to the theme.
The intelligence services had concrete evidence pointing to the Kremlin to instruct the people to transfer the mails to WikiLeaks, pointed out another senior official in the newspaper. The faces were “a step” away from the Russian government than were government employees, added the official.
Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks website said in a tv interview that the Russian government was not the source of the mails, reported the Post.
