Deputy Minister of Rural Development Chryssos Kellas has responded to the publication of conversations linked to OPEKEPE, where his name was mentioned. Speaking on the ERT show ‘Syndeseis,’ Kellas emphasized that he hasn’t set foot in OPEKEPE offices in the last 18 months since taking office. The discussions in question were part of a case involving former Undersecretary of Rural Development George Stratákou and former OPEKEPE President Kyriakos Mpampasidis, which included references to alleged favors and the phrase “Kellas can’t do it, he says, without these things, he can’t live without them.” Kellas denied ever requesting any favors or benefits. He stated that while there are various dialogues circulating—including one mentioning him—the core issue of the OPEKEPE scandal involves false subsidies and politically motivated conversations with ministers and MPs. He reiterated that he has not visited OPEKEPE offices nor sent any gifts such as wine during his tenure as an MP or deputy minister.
