In an effort to clear the books regarding organized crime, Michalis Chrysochoidis spoke tonight about the cold-blooded murder of Giorgos Moschouris earlier today (24.04.2025). During an interview with Action 24, the Minister for Citizen Protection expressed confidence that this case, like many others involving organized crime, will be solved. The 55-year-old victim, known to authorities for his involvement in the ‘Greek Mafia,’ was confirmed by the minister to have been involved in criminal activities. Chrysochoidis emphasized that while the Greek Mafia may be reeling from recent blows by law enforcement, the fight against them continues. When questioned about alleged connections between Moschouris and the murder of journalist Giorgos Karavaz, the minister dismissed such scenarios as unhelpful speculations. He stressed the importance of starting afresh in solving the case of the slain police reporter. Highlighting recent successes, Chrysochoidis cited the arrest of 60 individuals for fuel smuggling and another 40 for cigarette trafficking as examples of progress. The ultimate goal, he reiterated, is to eradicate organized crime by presenting concrete evidence against both individuals and moral perpetrators, ensuring they face justice. Significant efforts are being made to maintain a strong police presence in areas where organized crime operates.
