“We were supposed to do a performance that didn’t happen due to the pandemic,” revealed actress Chrysa Roopa. Invited on the Buongiorno show on Tuesday morning (18.03.2025), Roopa spoke about her absence from theater and her journey in television. When asked by Faye Skorda, “Why have you been out of theater for seven years?”, Roopa replied, “I know why, but I don’t want to talk about it. There was a play planned that didn’t happen because of the coronavirus… There are some things you don’t want to change.” Regarding the issue of pensioning, she mentioned, “All of Greece is concerned with pensions, not just me. At 69 years old, what other job can I do? Thankfully, Fonseu created the actor’s house. If I find myself in a dead-end, there’s at least a solution. Of course, I would go, very happily. I don’t like television; I never have. I love theater. In my life, I’ve always had principles. When someone tried to steal me away from a collaboration and I reacted, I knew I’d pay a high price—and I did. When I felt violated during a production, I packed my bag and left.” Skorda noted, “You respond in an absolute way, which leaves one speechless.” Roopa concluded, “It’s not an absolute way; it’s reality.”
