Since taking over Bucks coach on 29 January, Rivers has coached Middleton only in 15 regular season games. Middleton’s trio, John Antetokounbo and Damian Lilard have played together in just seven games under Rivers’ guidance. To mention that injuries have restricted Middleton to 88 regular season matches since the beginning of the 2022–23 season. Last season, the American averaged 15.1 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.7 rebounds with a target rate of 49%.
