The area affected by the massive fire on Chios is estimated to be over 40,000 stremmata, as revealed by an image captured by the Pleiades satellite. The image of the fire, which broke out on Sunday, shows significant improvement today, Wednesday (25.6.25), with the active front now restricted to Mount Trachili, north of the village of Lithi. According to preliminary estimates, of the burned stremmata, 28,500 are forested areas (bushy phrygana areas), 3,600 are rocky areas, 400 were covered by forests (Trachea Pine), while the remaining 8,400 appear to be agricultural lands (olive groves, etc.). The percentage of these agricultural areas amounts to 20% of the total affected area. The final impacted area may be slightly smaller, as it includes some unburned sections that will be reflected in subsequent assessments.
