China: It calls on the people to support Afghanistan and not to put more pressure on it

“People need to guide and support Afghanistan as it moves into a new government instead of putting more pressure on it,” Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in a statement to British Foreign Secretary Dominique Raab on Thursday.

The situation in Afghanistan, where the Taliban regained power 20 years after being forced to withdraw after the US invasion, remains volatile and uncertain, Wang said, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

“The international community should encourage and guide it in a positive direction instead of putting more pressure,” he said, adding that it would help stabilize the situation.
