The online application platform for the 2026 Child Benefit (A21) closes today, 11 March 2026, at 6:00 PM, as announced by the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family and the Organization for the Provision of Social Security Benefits (OPEKA).
How and Where to Apply
Eligible applicants can submit their A21 applications via the official platforms of the Hellenic Identity and Citizenship Agency (IDICA) at www.idika.gr or OPEKA at www.opeka.gr. Access requires personal Taxisnet login credentials.
Key Eligibility Criteria
The benefit amount is calculated based on two main factors: the number of dependent children declared in the 2026 A21 application and the applicant’s total family income from the 2024 tax year. Once the current year’s income tax return is filed, income data from the 2025 tax year will be used instead for future calculations.
School Information Required
For children enrolled in compulsory education, applicants must enter the following details in the A21 form: the name of the school unit, the student’s grade level, and their registration number (μητρώο). If all information matches official records, the application proceeds normally. If discrepancies arise, a notification appears, and applicants must upload the relevant supporting document—such as a school certificate—electronically alongside the A21 form.
To be valid, the application must be submitted definitively. Applications saved as drafts are not considered submitted and will not be processed.
Benefit Amounts and Payment Method
The Child Benefit is awarded starting with the first child. The monthly amount depends on both the number of dependent children and the family’s income bracket:
- For the first and second child: €70, €42, or €28 per month
- For the third child and each additional child: €140, €84, or €56 per month
The program supports over 900,000 families and more than 1.5 million children, with an annual budget of approximately €1.05 billion.
Payments are made in six bimonthly installments, based on the most recently finalized income tax return.
