American pop sensation Chappell Roan has announced that her new single, ‘The Giver,’ will be released on March 13. In a post on social media, the renowned singer confirmed it’s a country song co-written with American producer and collaborator Dan Nigro. “We haven’t made a country song in a while, but this music holds a special place in my heart,” she wrote on Instagram. Growing up listening to country music every morning and evening on the school bus, it was always around her—in gas stations, grocery stores, and karaoke bars. Many have asked if this means she’ll release a country album. Her response? “Right now, I’m just writing songs that make me feel happy and fun, and ‘The Giver’ is my take on country.” Roan first performed ‘The Giver’ on ‘Saturday Night Live’ last November, offering a taste of its sound. It marks the pop star’s first song since ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ which was released last April following her debut album ‘The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess’ in 2023. According to Variety, ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ garnered several Grammy nominations, ultimately earning Roan the prestigious Best New Artist award.
