Panic erupted at Palma de Mallorca Airport in Spain when a false fire alarm was triggered aboard a Ryanair plane during takeoff preparations. According to reports from the Daily Mail, the incident occurred on a Ryanair flight bound for Manchester when the fire alert sounded while the aircraft was on the runway at the Spanish tourist hotspot.
As seen in videos circulating on social media, some passengers evacuated the aircraft by jumping from the wing, resulting in several injuries. The incident took place late Friday night (04.07.2025), leaving a total of 18 people injured — six of whom were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
In a statement, Ryanair described the injuries as ‘minor,’ including sprains and bruises. The airline clarified that the panic was caused by a false alarm. ‘The flight from Palma to Manchester aborted takeoff due to a false fire indication. During evacuation, a small number of passengers sustained light injuries and crew requested medical assistance,’ the statement read.
To minimize disruption, the airline arranged a replacement aircraft which departed Palma at 7:05 AM on Saturday (05.07.2025). Ryanair has apologized to affected passengers, emphasizing their commitment to safety and customer care during unforeseen incidents.
