Chaos on Ryanair Flight: Drunk Passenger Forces Plane Diversion

in

A drunken British passenger traveling from Tenerife, Spain, to Prestwick, Scotland, attacked fellow passengers, forcing the pilots to divert the plane to Portugal. According to a report by the ‘Daily Mail’, citing witness accounts, the intoxicated woman was described as angry, hostile, and aggressive towards both the crew and other passengers aboard the Ryanair flight. She reportedly made false bomb threats while holding a glass wine bottle, assaulted passengers, climbed onto seats, removed headphones from others, and threatened them. “Many passengers didn’t know what to do. Everyone was upset and scared. It was truly terrible – not something you expect,” recounted one passenger in an interview with the ‘Daily Mail’. Footage that surfaced shows the perpetrator being dragged off the aircraft at Faro Airport in Portugal during the emergency landing. Portuguese security officers handcuffed the woman and loaded her into an airport van, with one officer appearing to throw her to the ground. The Ryanair pilots decided to land the plane – which had departed from Tenerife and was headed to Prestwick – at the nearest airport in Faro, Portugal. A Ryanair spokesperson stated: “This flight from Tenerife to Glasgow Prestwick was diverted to Faro after a passenger became disruptive onboard. The crew requested police assistance prior to landing, who met the aircraft upon arrival at Faro Airport and removed the passenger before the flight continued to Glasgow Prestwick. Ryanair enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy against unruly passenger behavior and will continue to take decisive action against such misconduct, ensuring all passengers and crew travel in a safe and respectful environment free from unnecessary disruptions.”
