A father of three children has been sentenced to six months in prison, suspended until the Court of Appeals, for assaulting his eight-year-old daughter. The man was found guilty after a complaint filed against him by his estranged wife. The single-member misdemeanor court in Chania convicted the father for domestic violence based on the allegations made by the estranged spouse and mother of their three children. According to the report, the accused allegedly harassed the eight-year-old girl, which escalated into insults and threats. In his defense, the father denied all accusations, claiming he was residing in Athens at the time and had only visited Chania to see his children. He stated that the incident occurred because the child refused to hug him, and he believed the mother was responsible. Despite his claims, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to six months in prison with suspension pending appeal. The defendant expressed his intention to appeal the sentence.
