Chalkidiki: 79-Year-Old Man Dies After Drowning in Potidaea Beach

A 79-year-old man died after drowning at Potidaea beach in Chalkidiki, northern Greece. He was pulled unconscious from the sea at around noon on Friday, 10 July 2026, near the Potidaea shoreline in the municipality of Nea Propontida.

Emergency Response

Initial resuscitation efforts were carried out on-site by a lifeguard using cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The man was then transported by EKAB (National Center for Emergency Care) ambulance to the Health Center of Nea Moudania, where his death was officially confirmed.

Investigation Underway

The Second Port Authority Unit of Nea Moudania — part of the Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki — is conducting a preliminary investigation. Authorities have ordered an autopsy to be performed by the Forensic Medicine Service of Thessaloniki.
