A new incident occurred early Monday afternoon (14.04.2025) in Chalkida when a truck violated a crossing and collided with a suburban train wire. The wire of train 1543 was en route from Chalkida to Athens. The rail accident happened shortly after 11:00 AM when the truck ignored the crossing barriers just before the Aulida station, causing significant material damage to the train infrastructure. All 45 passengers are safe, as is the Hellenic Train staff and, fortunately, the truck driver emerged unscathed from the rail accident. This incident took place not long after another similar event. Unfortunately, violations at suburban train crossings have become frequent despite the Transport Ministry’s efforts to impose stricter penalties for non-compliance.
