Police in Chalandri arrested a 45-year-old man on the evening of Thursday, 25 June 2026, following an armed incident in which he threatened a neighboring couple. The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Pamphylia Street in Chalandri, where the suspect reportedly brandished a replica firearm and directed threats at the couple outside their home.
Violent Confrontation Captured on Camera
Security footage shows the man behaving erratically—described as being in an ‘amok’ state—in front of the couple’s single-family residence. During the confrontation, he repeatedly struck an external light fixture with such force that it was completely shattered.
According to local reports, this was not his first aggressive act toward the couple; he had allegedly attacked them before with sticks and other objects. The Greek news outlet Star obtained video footage capturing both the assault and the suspect’s subsequent arrest.
In the footage, the man approaches the woman—who is 25 years old—shouting and hurling insults. She recounted: “We heard a loud noise and went out onto our balcony. We saw him hitting things and screaming uncontrollably. I learned he had a knife on him—and he threw the replica firearm into nearby bushes.”
Her spouse added: “He threatens us constantly—says he hasn’t ‘hit’ us yet, but intends to ‘shoot’ us. This is a matter of life and death. We don’t know how to get him away from us.”
Weapons Seized, Charges Filed
Authorities recovered and confiscated a replica firearm, several knives, a bayonet, and other potentially dangerous items from the suspect. He was taken to the Chalandri Police Station, where a criminal file was opened against him.
He faces multiple charges, including violations of Greece’s firearms law, disobedience, making threats, verbal abuse, and violence against public officials.
