A 17-year-old British teenager is in critical condition after falling from the first-floor balcony of a hotel in Chalandri, a northern suburb of Athens, in the early hours of Friday, 3 July 2026. According to the latest reports, the minor was under the influence of alcohol at the time, and authorities are investigating the exact circumstances of the fall from a height of approximately four metres.
Alcohol Purchased with Fake ID
The boy was visiting Greece on holiday with his parents when the incident occurred. He and a friend reportedly purchased alcohol from a local convenience store in Chalandri. To bypass age restrictions, they presented a forged driver’s licence. The shop employee who sold them the alcohol has since been arrested on charges of endangering a minor’s life and violating Greece’s laws on tobacco and alcohol sales to minors.
Emergency Response and Hospitalisation
The accident happened around 5:00 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, the teen fell from the balcony into the open space below. An EKAB ambulance responded immediately and transported him to the Red Cross Hospital in Athens. His condition remains critical, and medical staff are making extraordinary efforts to save his life.
