Today, Saturday (1.1.2025) according to the honor of the memory of Osios Theodosius the Commune Governor The names that celebrate today, according to the festival, are as follows: ADVERSE Theodosius, Theodosis, Dossios, Dossios * Osios Theodosius the congregator Osios Theodosius was born in the village of Mogarrissou, Cappadocia, to very faithful and virtuous parents, the Proeresian and the Blessing. He lived in the years of Emperor Leo the Great (457 – 474 AD) and reached up to the times of Emperor Anastasios the Mikiros (491 – 518 AD). He refused married life and at a young age became a monk. From very early on he distinguished himself for his self – control and moral perfection. CORVERSE After practicing near great ascetics such as Simeon the Stylitis and the quiet Longinus retired to a remote retreat where he taught God’s word to passersby. His reputation for his holy life quickly became known to the ends of the empire and brought to his quiet room dozens of brothers forcing Theodosius to establish a spacious monastery where he faithfully applied the standards of ascetic life. He performed many miracles and, after teaching the virtues of ascetic life to his hundreds of disciples, slept in deep old age in 529 C.E. The news of his sleep spread like lightning. And many, laymen, clergy and monks, even Bishops, ran to embrace the sacred relic of the Holy Man, who stood for all loving father and protective brother. And this even Patriarch of Jerusalem came to embrace and attend the exodus Sequence, and there was great emotion, when he was before the holy tabernacle of Osios. His collection was held at the Septuagint Missionary of St. Apostolos Peter, which was near Agia Sophia. Some of the miracles of the Saint are: Saint had built a grave for himself, so that by seeing him remember death. This tomb was inaugurated with his death by a Saint Ascetic named Basil. So this ascetic, while he had died, only Theodosius and another monk saw him standing among the other monks and chanting. To the rest of the monks, Basil was invisible. Another miracle of St., is that in a place in which he is to establish a monastery, he lit cut coals, without a fire. Also, Saint foretold the destruction that would take place in Antioch from a major earthquake. *There are other dates that celebrate this name.
