A victim of fraud fell into the village of Pangaios as three people managed to distract her. One of the perpetrators contacted the woman who lives in a village of Pangaion in Kavala and on the pretext that her relative has caused a car accident and asked for money to help him with the elderly to announce that she has gold pounds. So to become more convincing, his accomplice during the phone call, he pretended to be a relative and persuaded the elderly woman to hand over ten gold pounds to the perpetrator. Following the incident’s complaint an investigation was carried out by police officers of the Pangaio Police Department, during which the identity of the perpetrator was identified, which as found on November 15th in the morning went by car to a settlement in Kavala and received from the suffering golden pounds. At the expense of the perpetrator a file was formed on the offence of fraud, which includes two unknown accomplices of his sought. Pre-interrogation is conducted by the Pangaio Police Department. On the occasion of the incident by the General Police Directorate of East Macedonia, useful advice was made public to avoid civil fraud: – Be especially cautious when strangers try to convince you of the payment of money, under the pretext of an urgent need of a relative-friendly person (e.g. hospitalization). They can try the same by phone. For the same reasons not to give in to suggestions for meeting (date etc.). -In cases where strangers invoke the emergency need of a known relative, always seek to communicate by phone with your familiar-related person, to confirm what they invoke. Communication should be done on your own phone and on your own initiative and you should not accept talking to a person called by strangers. – In any case, state that you are not going to deliver money unless your acquaintances show up. -It is noted that hospitals or public services do not use their practical employees to go to homes or public places and ask citizens to pay money to provide their services. Always keep available the phone numbers, which you need to contact in case of emergency (Police, Fire Department, Hospitals, close relatives etc.). Try to contain the features of the perpetrators, as well as the vehicles with which they move (traffic number, vehicle brand, color, etc.), to help the work of the prosecution authorities. – Always inform the police, even in case of attempted fraud.
