CAUTION! Do NOT drink water from the glass that you have next to you in the night…

Many people have the habit of leaving a glass of water on the nightstand next to the bed…
when they fall to sleep at night, in order not to have to stand up and go to the kitchen for a drink of water if they get thirsty during the night.
But, the water stays in the glass for many hours contains a number of unknown risks. If you have noticed, moreover, in this case he has a “weird” taste.
Water, unlike food, does not contain sugars, or proteins contribute to the growth of microbes. So, we cannot say that it is the germs those that are responsible for the strange taste, when it stays for hours in the glass.
The water that is left in a glass for hours is more likely to collect dust particles and bacteria from the air of the room, in particular if it is not ventilated.
Also, when it is exposed to air, it absorbs carbon dioxide, a small part of which is converted into carbonic acid. In other words, this means that when the water is exposed to the air for a long time it is likely to undergo a change in chemical structure.
To be more precise, the carbonic acid converted to carbonate or bicarbonate to acid, when it releases one or two protons, which in turn changes the pH of the water. This change also affects the taste.
If all this does not necessarily mean that the water stays in the glass, on your bedside table all night is inappropriate, they are definitely something worth to consider, due to the fact that it has collected a lot of dust and bacteria.
So, the next time you get thirsty during the night, or just wake up, make the effort to go to the kitchen and to drink fresh running water from the tap, or, better still, bottled.
