Car Fire in Thessaloniki – Completely Destroyed, Authorities Investigate Arson

An unexpected fire incident on Monday (12.05.25) left the firefighting team of Thessaloniki mobilized as a car caught fire under mysterious circumstances at around 4:00 AM on Kanari Street in eastern Thessaloniki. The vehicle was completely destroyed by the flames, which also spread to a nearby tree, according to ERT reports. Minor damages were reported to adjacent vehicles. Two firefighting vehicles with six firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze before it escalated further. The owner of the car heard an explosion and stepped outside his home to find his vehicle engulfed in flames. An investigation is underway by the Fire Service to determine the cause, with authorities exploring the possibility of arson.
