A tragic accident occurred at around 8:30 PM near Mantoudi, on the national road connecting Halkida and Aidipsos in northern Evia. An 80-year-old driver lost his life, while his elderly wife, who was also a passenger in the vehicle, sustained minor injuries. According to lamiareport.gr, the incident happened near the 61st kilometer of the road when the car veered off to the right side of the road. Both occupants were trapped inside the vehicle. The Fire Department was promptly alerted and rushed to the scene for their extraction. The 80-year-old driver was extracted unconscious, while his wife suffered only minor injuries. Reports suggest that the driver may have experienced a medical emergency, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. A necropsy has been ordered by the Forensic Medicine Service of Sterea Ellada to determine the exact cause of death.
