The Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) has launched an investigation into a serious bus collision that occurred on Karamanlis Avenue this morning. According to an official statement, a special team has already been formed to cooperate with the relevant authorities and collect all necessary evidence following the incident. The accident involved two buses belonging to the Athens transport consortium, operating along route ‘122: Sarwntida – Argiroupoli Station’.
The crash occurred when one bus collided with another from the same route at the first beach promenade in Voula. Emergency services responded swiftly, dispatching eight ambulances, three mobile medical units, and two rapid response motorcycles. Injured passengers were transported to local hospitals including Asclepieio Voulas, Agia Sophia Children’s Hospital, and G. Gennimatas General Hospital.
Authorities are currently investigating the causes and circumstances surrounding the incident. It has been clarified that both buses were put into service in October 2024. OASA continues to monitor the situation closely and has pledged support for victims and their families.
