New revelations have emerged from doctors regarding the health of Bruce Willis, who is battling frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a form of dementia causing gradual decline in brain areas linked to personality and language skills. The beloved American movie star announced two years ago that he had been diagnosed with FTD. Willis celebrated his 70th birthday on March 19 surrounded by family. Although the star has mostly stayed away from public life since his diagnosis, rare photos shared by his ex-wife Demi Moore and his five children showed Willis smiling and surrounded by loved ones. However, doctors not involved in his care noted signs of a ‘frozen expression’ and ‘lessened awareness,’ characteristic symptoms of FTD. They also pointed out that Willis seemed to look away from the camera frequently, another symptom of the condition. Comparing recent images to those from his 69th birthday, only minor changes were observed, suggesting that his treatment might be alleviating symptoms. However, doctors emphasized that physical changes may not always be visible with this type of dementia. Dr. Stuart Fischer remarked that while the Instagram photos appear normal, the real tragedy lies within Willis’s internal struggles. Despite these concerns, former wife Demi Moore stated Willis is currently in a stable condition. While the disease’s progression is irreversible, the family remains supportive, adapting to his emotional stages. Frontotemporal dementia affects approximately 50,000 to 60,000 people in the U.S., with over 7 million Americans suffering from some form of dementia.
